SIESTA PROMENADE Sarasota, Florida

Siesta Promenade is a new pedestrian-oriented, mixed-use infill project adjacent to the primary beach resort area of Sarasota, Siesta Key.

The project includes a mix of a high-density housing, retail, office, a food market and a new hotel. The project focuses on a series of public plazas, visible from the surrounding primary roads, but sheltered by surrounding buildings. 

Special emphasis was placed on integrating sustainable design into the overall project: The pedestrian orientation and mix of uses minimizes the need for automobile use. Vegetated roofs and bioretention are used throughout the project to protect the sensitive bay habitat. 

Blocks are laid out to facilitate solar orientation and daylighting, and design guidelines require energy efficiency and  integrated alternative energy systems.
