About Richard Price, AIA
Richard Price is an architect and urban designer with a focus on the design and realization of innovative communities. Mr. Price works with private clients, government agencies, institutions and design firms to conceptualize, evaluate and implement planning and design strategies at the building, neighborhood and regional scale.
Mr. Price’s work includes planning and design of several communities in the Southeastern US, focusing on innovative and cost-effective solutions for unique projects. His development work includes Eleven:30 Condominiums and RiverBluff, two communities in Charlottesville featuring a mix of contemporary and traditional design that showcase cost-effective green building techniques and ecologically sensitive site design.
From 2000 to 2016, Mr. Price also taught courses in sustainable planning and urban design in the School of Architecture at the University of Virginia. His academic work includes presentations and lectures on sustainable planning and community design at numerous conferences nationally.
Previously, Mr Price was the Director of Community Design at William McDonough + Partners, a Charlottesville-based design firm focused on ecologically intelligent design. Mr. Price also practiced at Croxton Collaborative Architects in New York, where his work focused on innovative green design of commercial and institutional buildings.
Mr. Price has also worked in New York, Boston and Paris, undertaking projects in historic preservation, infrastructure design, corporate interiors and affordable housing.
