Northwest Santa Rosa SMART Plan

As part of Duke’s environmental initiative, Richard Price worked with Duke University to improve the environmental performance of multiple new building projects. 

The work includes planning and design assistance for a new science center, the renovation of the law school, and several buildings in the medical center. Specific initiatives include alternative stormwater management, energy efficiency and the use of environmentally responsible materials. 

A key part of the work was reviewing Duke’s programs and policies to facilitate green building. This includes establishing new contracting protocols, setting up guidelines for capital expenditures related to green building, and adapting the LEED rating system to local conditions.
